On September 17, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day with a 35-point gain, but that wasn’t the end to a good day for Alliance Fiber Optic Products. The California-based technology company continued to be a hot stock in after-hours trading.
The rise occurred after Alliance Fiber Optic Products announced that it expected third-quarter sales to exceed its previous projections thanks to a stronger-than-expected number of customer orders. Shares jumped 15 percent during after-hours trading. Alliance Fiber Optic now expects sales above $22 million for the quarter ending September 30, higher than the $19.5 million to $20.5 million that was forecasted.
“With increased demands for datacom applications, customer orders have been stronger than expected,” Chief Executive Peter Chang said in a press release. “We are excited with this development and the opportunity to deliver another record quarterly financial milestones the third quarter. We will continue our capacity expansion efforts to support our customers’ growing requirements and to increase AFOP market share in this emerging industry growth cycle.”
Founded in 1995, Alliance Fiber Optic Products, designs, manufactures and markets a broad range of high performance fiber optic components, which are used to deliver optical networking systems to long-haul, enterprise, metropolitan and last mile access segments of fiber networks.
Fiber optic technology advances nearly daily, with recent projections estimating that speeds will soon be capable of reaching 400 GB. Not only does this make web content more accessible to both residents and businesses alike, but it also encourages innovation.
