Assured Communications Advisors International (ACA International) has confirmed plans to invest $52 million into building a new data center in Virginia.
ACA International, an international telecommunications network consultancy firm, plans on building the new facility by late 2019. The facility will function as the new corporate office, a Tier III data center, and as a cable landing station for subsea cables.
According to the Virginia Beach Development Authority, the 10.2-acre site purchased by ACA International will be home to a 130,000 square-foot facility. Virginia Beach has seen rapid growth in subsea cable installations as “the only transatlantic landing location on the East Coast,” giving companies like ACA International a high incentive to bring new telecommunications facilities to the area.
Joel Ogren, CEO of ACA International, states that “the city [of Virginia Beach] has been extremely proactive in creating the framework to take advantage of the next stage of global digital infrastructure.” ACA serves clients all around the world and has been working on multiple subsea projects. The world’s fastest subsea cables have landing points in Virginia Beach.
