A recent business acquisition has one of the biggest privately-owned telecommunications providers in the Midwest growing a little larger. Great Plains Communications has announced the completion of acquiring InterCarrier Networks, a fiber-optic network carrier with distinct and unique fiber routes in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and the St. Louis metro area.
Great Plains Communications is a Grain Management portfolio company and the addition of these new fiber routes provides a surge in value for the telecom giant. The company being acquired, InterCarrier Networks, will provide essential bandwidth infrastructure solutions to larger enterprises and telecom carries for markets in the Midwest.
According to Globe Newswire, InterCarrier Networks will be providing GPC with additional coverage of 2,067 fiber routes miles.
Great Plains Communications previously served 90 communities throughout Nebraska and offered cable television, high-speed internet, voice services, and business solutions. The company had a portfolio of a vast area of fiber network that spans 9,500 miles and fiber that runs beyond Nebraska top Illinois, Iowa, Colorado, South Dakota, Kanas, Wyoming, and Minnesota. The company offers residential, business, and wholesale services.
In May 2019, the Great Plains Communications first announced its plans to acquire InterCarrier Networks and its unique fiber routes. Great Plains Communications has always had the goal of strategic growth. Todd Foje, CEO, explained this in a recent press release and elaborated that growth and anticipation of the long-term and current needs of the consumers are critical. Mr. Foje went on to say, “InterCarrier Networks is a valuable addition, enabling us to extend our market along existing ICN routes in Illinois and Indiana while providing an exciting opportunity to bring new communications routes with valuable fiber broadband into two major underserved Kentucky markets. We look forward to serving these customers with the modern services and speeds they need to meet their goals and grow their businesses.”
